The world Trade Organisation has handed down a landmark ruling against the United States of America, deciding the one and a half billion dollars of annual subsidies paid to cotton farmers are illegal. Australia has backed the case, brought by Brazil. As James Ensor from Oxfam explained to Andrew Liberts, the ruling could have mush wider effects.
