World writers call for international bill of digital rights

On International Human Rights Day over 550 authors from 83 countries, including five Nobel Prize winners and some 30 Australian authors, launched the campaign “Writers Against Mass Surveillance”. They condemn mass surveillance conducted by the US and other governments revealed by whistleblower Edward Snowden and call for an “International Bill of Digital Rights” by the United Nations to protect the privacy of the world’s citizens.
