Liz Harfull set out to find solo women farmers willing to talk about their lives and the result is her book Women of the Land. The eight women featured are scattered round the Australian outback, all sharing a passion for hard work and for life on the land.

They say they were happy to share their stories to give city dwelling Australians some insight into some of the issues they face, such as encroachment by development and mining , or the underfunding of country hospitals.
