With the US election getting closer by the day, the focus is shifting to the question of voter turnout, in a country where casting a ballot is not compulsory. Far more women voters have gone to the polls in the US, in recent years, and some commentators believe the balance of power lies with them. And since the announcement of Sarah Palin as running mate for Republican, John McCain, his popularity amongst women has greatly increased.
