The same sex marriage postal survey has stirred conversation about the balance between religious freedom and anti-discrimination laws, especially whether business owners will have the right to refuse service for same-sex weddings.

Professor Michael Quinlan, Dean of Sydney School of Law at the University of Notre Dame, Dr Luke Beck, Senior Law Lecturer at the University of Western Sydney and Tim Vines of Civil Liberties Australia spoke about the legal case for religious exemptions from anti-discrimination laws.
