Tomorrow the Federal government is set for a Senate Debate over changes Aboriginal Land Rights. While the Federal Government says it seeks to promote economic development for Indigenous Australians, a number of organizations opposed to the legislation, claiming more debate is needed. Community campaigning group “Get UP” along with Aboriginals for Native Title and Reconciliation or ANTaR are two groups spearheading the defence of what they see as dangerous legislation, claiming the legislation will see Indigenous people in the Northern Territory forced into selling their land in exchange for better services. Executive Director of Get Up Brett Solomon and Gary Highland, National Director of ANTaR discussed the proposed changes.
