NSW fishermen are exporting so many shark fins, they may be upsetting the ecological balance off our coast. That’s according to the Nature Conservation Council of NSW who are worried that the 10,000 sharks being killed for their fins are too many for the ocean to handle. With little scientific information on sharks in NSW, they say that Peter Garratt must not renew the export licence to the Ocean Trap and Line Fishery, until further research is done. The Environment Minister had until today to make his decision.
