Beijing 2008 is being sold by the Chinese Government as a cleaner – Green Olympics. Despite Beijing having air pollution which is sometimes 2 or 3 times the maximum levels recommended by the World Heath Organisation. Environment plays a big part in any sport and so we spoke to the Australian Olympic Committee – who is now looking at strategies for our athletes to not only be temperature acclimatised but to be ready to hit the pollution head on as well.
