The G20 summit at the weekend has concluded with a resounding commitment to the principals of capitalism and free trade. The summit- designed to include emerging economies in the discussion of world trade- was convened hastily to deal with the global economic crisis. Delegates also committed to a reduction in protectionism and trade barriers- two contentious issues that have prevented developing countries from entering into trade with first world economies. So has the global economic crisis delivered an unexpected bonus for the world’s developing economies?
