There were reports today of a so-called stand-off looming in Melbourne over the site of an Aboriginal protest camp set up during the Commonwealth Games. The group were camping in Kings Domain to draw attention to Indigenous issues to the world audience. However Camp Sovereignty and Black GST member Robbie Thorpe says radio reports this morning of an attempt to put out the ‘sacred fire’ at the camp seem nothing more than a hoax – amid suggestions that the camp must move on.
