Wilderness Society suspends Tasmanian forest talks

Tasmanian Premier Lara Giddings says she’s disappointed by the Wilderness Society’s announcement today that they’re suspending their involvement in talks aimed at stopping the logging of old growth forests. The statement came eight months after the historic peace deal between conservationsists and timber workers was signed, and six weeks after an interim report was handed down by talks facilitator Bill Kelty.
