While Australia watches in awe of our athletes’ achievements in Athens, some developing countries are wondering how they will survive in the face of recent natural disasters. In Bangladesh aid agencies estimate that two-thirds of the country is submerged after recent floods with 20 million people requiring food-aid. To raise public awareness, Jubilee Australia will be holding a protest tomorrow in Sydney’s Martin Place. While the Olympics is being shown on large screens, they’ll be asking people to spare a thought for those nations who aren’t so high up the medal tally, and to consider the reasons why.
