There’s still debate surrounding the abortion drug RU486. An amendment was passed two years ago making the drug legal for Australian women. It was considered a victory for many people advocating for women’s right to have a choice on abortion. Professor Caroline de Costa- a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at James Cook University- says the battle is far from over and many drug companies are reluctant to involve themselves in the production or marketing of RU486.
