The Aboriginal flag has always been owned by a private artist since 1995, but who has the rights to print and distribute the indigenous icon?

Disputes over the ownership of the Aboriginal flag have recently come up in discussion as organizations such as Spark Health and their partner Clothing The Gap, as well as even the AFL have been served cease and desist orders by the original creator of the flag, Harold Thomas, and WAM Clothing, who were given permission from Harold Thomas to distribute the flag on their merchandise.
