Almost 50 per cent of adults in Australia don’t have a legally valid will. But taking the time to draw up this document could stop bickering among family members over remaining assets. In most states, when someone dies without a will, assets are shared among relatives according to a government formula. If there’s no family, the assets go to the state government.
