The deaths of five Medecins Sans Frontieres workers in northern Afghanistan last week has highlighted the fact that it isn’t safe to be an aid worker any more – they are as much targets as the military and MNF’s Nicolette Jackson believes it’s because the military has deliberately blurred the lines between soldiers and aid workers. She says coalition forces in Afghanistan have even disguised themselves as aid workers in order to gain influence in areas of the country.
