New Research from the University of New South Wales suggests that an adult who had a happy childhood is still capable of being a sexual offender. Where as previous theories state that sex offenders are lonely and insecure, and that this ‘attachment style’, is the result of dysfunctional relationships during infancy, this new research states that many sex offenders don’t fit that profile. It implies that if subjected to the right emotional circumstances, any adult is capable of committing a sexual offence.
