Western Sahara and the Sahwari struggle

In the 1960s and 1970s in the Western Sahara and the Sahwari people were meant to be prt of the decolonisation process happening across the world. The Spanish were to relinquish their colony and a referendum to be held. However, Morocco stepped in, claming it had sovereignty over Western Sahara before Spanish colonisation. Ever since, a pro-independence force called the Polisaro Front have been fighting for self determination. The Mori Gallery in Sydney is holding an exhibition celebtrating 30 years of the Saharawi Republic and the President of the Australia Western Sahara Association spoke to The Wire about the event.
