A long-running native title claim in Western Australia could have a billion dollar ending. Premier Colin Barnett has offered the Noongar people of South Western Australia a huge settlement for native title claims that cover parts of central Perth. $60 million a year will be paid into locked trust accounts that will be spent on the community.
The Noongar people will also be recognized as the original inhabitants of the land in a symbolic act by Parliament. If they accept the offer, The South West Land and Sea Council will have to surrender all native title claims- for good.
