Welfare rights groups have criticised the Federal Government’s new ‘Welfare to Work’ scheme, saying it’s too severe. And in the first three months of the new rules, it’s Indigenous Australians who have been hit hardest. The President of the National Welfare Rights Network, Michael Raper, has called for an inquiry into the increasing number of people who have lost their payments for 8 weeks under the new rules.
