The drought has made the flat plains of Hay in New South Wales practically barren, but last week the remote down was brimming with life as more than 250 rural women had came together to speak about families, life on the farm and the issues affecting them. The Premier’s Council for Women, grasped the opportunity to speak directly to rural women to find out how the federal government’s Work choices and Welfare to work legislation are affecting them and their communities.
