Welfare groups call for Flood Levy to pass

Debate on a new flood levy that Tony Abbott has called “the opposite of mateship” is due to take place this Thursday in Parliament. But welfare groups say they’ve been left out of the dialogue on how best to rebuild infrastructure in flood and cyclone affected Queensland. The National Welfare Rights Network is urging the government to include them in this discussion; to implement the flood levy and not make any further cuts to social and security services.
