Welfare cuts could see rise in destitute refugees

Asylum seekers in Australia have traditionally been given a small support payment as they wait for their cases  to be processed. On the 18th of this month that will change as around 12000 people seeking asylum lose that support in exchange for work rights. Refugee support services are warning this could see thousand of families facing destitution and homelessness.
