Water restrictions to ease for Sydneysiders, but is it a good idea?
Sydneysiders have reduced their water consumption by 13.4 per cent since water restrictions were first introduced in October 2003, saving more than 304 billion litres of water. When dam levels dipped below 40 per cent in 2005, the more severe Level 3 restrictions came into force… and ever since in Sydney, as in cities and towns across Australia, water restrictions have simply become a way of life. But all that could be about to change. Thanks to recent rains, dam levels could once again reach 60 per cent by the end of this week. And the NSW Minister for Water, Phil Koperberg, ABC radio that if that happens, water restrictions could be eased.
