Water restrictions cause a greater use of water

We’ve heard it before – it’s the worst drought Australia has ever seen. So it comes as no surprise that tougher water restrictions are being put in place to make sure there’s enough water for everyone to survive. But according to a behavioural scientist from the University of South Australia, negative water restrictions like fines and water-off days are having the opposite effect with people using more water than normal in the times they can. Associate Professor in Psychology Jacques Metzer explains this effect
