While eastern Australia recovers from flood, the Murray mouth and surrounding areas have become so dry that farmers are killing their cattle and the exposure of the acid soil under the Lower Lakes is a health issue. Henry Jones is a fishermen in the area and he says it should be declared a national disaster. Meanwhile SA’s Minister for the River Murray Karlene Maywald is off to a Murray Darling Basin meeting tomorrow to tell the other states that SA won’t be agreeing to the National Water Plan unless the area gets a special allocation.
