The Western Australian government is planning on spending $22 million on a “shark hazard mitigation program” by baiting 60 drumlines 1km off the coast. An environmental review of the plan has been released which argues the impact on non-shark species will be negligible, but environmentalists say the proposal will further endanger species already at risk.
