University students are claiming they’ve won the fight against voluntary student unionism, or at least for this year. Education Minister, Brendan Nelson has admitted that its impossible for the legislation to be implemented by universities in 2006 even if the legislation is passed this year. He wants to make it voluntary for uni students to pay money that go towards services on campus. And with only a couple of weeks left of parliament sitting and the VSU bill planned to be introduced on Thursday it is expected the legislation will be dropped until next year.
