Robbie Kina was a shy Aboriginal woman whose story ended up on national television. Hers was one of the first high profile cases of the ‘battered wife’ syndrome – the man she stabbed had abused her badly and yet in her court case no evidence of abuse was raised. Six years later after much publicity she was freed. Robbie died last week aged only 50. Debbie Kilroy, from support group for women prisoners Sisters Inside, who knew Robbie for thirty years and spent time in gaol with her, spoke about her life.
