The Federal government’s announcement of a deal with UK-based drug company AstraZeneca to lock in supply of a coronavirus vaccine should trials prove successful has disappointed local vaccine developers. Adelaide scientists have been working overtime on a different kind of new vaccine – called COVAX-19 it has shown promising results after clearing its first phase of human trials. In spite of this vaccine developer Professor Nikolai Petrovsky say he has been unable to interest the Australian government in the project.
