Utopia – an indigenous community proves traditional living leads to healthy outcomes

Research published today shows that traditional living has had a positive impact on health in the indigenous community of Utopia. The mortality rate of Utopians was nearly half that of the Northern Territory Indigenous population- according to data collected over 9 years. The study was done by the Cooperative Research Centre for Aboriginal Health, and it illustrates just how well a decentralised lifestyle combined with a flexible health system can work.
