Today’s session of parliament was always going to be explosive. Malcolm Turnbull continued his prosecution of the government over the alleged special treatment of a car dealer and friend of the prime minister. But the government’s counter attack was boosted this afternoon after the email at the centre of the scandal was found on the treasury’s internal computer system. The government always maintained it was a hoax. The affair has reignited debate about the role of public servants caught up in political scandals and the lack of a federal corruption commission.
