12 staff members and at least seven patients, including three children have been killed in a United States bombing of a civilian hospital in Afghanistan. Médecins Sans Frontières are calling the destruction of their hospital a grave violation of International Humanitarian Law and are calling for an independent inquiry into the attack. The bombing, which happened despite American and coalition forces having the GPS location of the hospital, has left the area without essential medical services.
