US plans for a missile defence system in Europe are facing political deadlock because of Russian president Vladimir Putin. Putin who was outraged by the original proposal for a Radar in the Czech republic and Interceptor missiles in Poland has suggested an alternative site in Azerbaijan which already has a Radar and better strategic location for the US stated objectives. Putin consideres the original proposal is a direct threat to Russia’s security however the US has stated it is intended to combat rogue states such as Iran and the DPRK.
