Uranium spill in Northern Territory creates fears for welfare of Kakadu

A leak at the Ranger Uranium Mine in the Northern Territory has spilt acidic radioactive slurry in the Kakadu National Park where the mine is situated. The Incident has been described by the local Mirarr people as the largest nuclear accident in Australian History. Mining company Energy Resources of Australia report that the leak has had no effect of the surrounding environment and is contained. However, fears remain from the local community about the repercussions of the recent leak and other incidents on the natural environment.
