Koalas are in serious decline, suffering from the effects of habitat destruction, domestic dog attacks, bushfires and road accidents. The Australian Koala Foundation estimates there are less than 100 thousand koalas left in the wild across the country. Saving the koalas is on the agenda for the Redland Shire, Queensland where the koala population is listed as vulnerable. But in a twist, many environmental groups have pulled their support from the weekend summit.
