University crackdown on cheating reveals prevalence of the issue

According to a national survey of more than 14,000 students from 8 institutions, nearly 6 per cent of university students admitted to engaging in one or more forms of contract cheating.

However, researchers believe the actual proportion of students who cheat could be as high as 10-12 per cent.

With new crackdowns at the University of New South Wales revealing alarming numbers of cheating, questions have been raised on exactly how prevalent this issue is across all universities.
