The United States increased its share of the global arms trade by 50 per cent last year, claiming more than two thirds of weapons sales. They sold almost $38 billion in arms, maintenance and services, despite the global financial crisis. Italy and Russia came in next, with around $3.5 billion each. So why is it in America’s interests to arm the rest of the world?
