Federal Race Discrimination Commissioner Tom Calma from Australia’s Human Rights Commission is leading an Australian delegation to the United Nations Forum on Anti-Racism. The attendance by the Australian delegation is however somewhat controversial. In the past the forum has apparently provided a platform for anti-Semitic comments as some delegates have attacked Israel’s Middle East policies. Why then is Australia’s Human Rights Commission attending the upcoming forum? We speak to Tom Calma in order to elucidate the current controversy.
