Once again new Australian Bureau of Statistics employment figures are creating headaches for governments around the country with the release of jobs data from last month. In January there was a fall of around 28 000 full-time jobs and an increase of around 16 000 in part-time work. The decline was much larger than most economists predicted. So what’s the outlook? Is there cause for gloom?
