Unemployment reaches twelve-year high

New job figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics yesterday show unemployment has jumped to a level not seen since August 2002. Around 800 000 people are out of work or 6.4 per cent of the total workforce. It’s even higher for young people aged 15-24 with 14 per cent unable to find a job. But will the results cause the government to stop and think about it’s welfare policies?
