A report backed by the UN Human Rights Council which accuses Israel of war crimes in Gaza has been criticised for hindering the peace process. Twenty-five member nations voted in favour of it while six, including the US, were opposed. Israel is threatened with strong action by the International Criminal Court if it fails to seriously investigate the claims. But the US is expected to veto any call for such action if the report, authored by South African judge Richard Goldstone, goes before the Security Council.
