UN report on the Congo hailed as a turning point

A new UN report into human rights abuses in the Democratic Republic of Congo (or DRC) has been hailed as a turning point for the troubled nation. The report documents violence in the country between 1993 and 2003. In that time 4 million people lost their lives in the DRC, with thousands more subject to rape and human rights violations. The UN hopes to use the findings to establish a stronger justice system, to end the rampant crime.
