The Federal government plans to attract American trade workers to Australia to fill a skills gap, by speeding up the process which recognises their qualifications. The mining sector in particular will benefit from the reform.
The Federal government has said that skilled workers looking for jobs will be targeted, as the US economy suffers and unemployment sits at 8.3 percent. But the Greens want the government to look to its own backyard, by training local workers and finding more suitable work for migrants already in Australia.
