Native flora and fauna could be endangered by changes in the new regional forest agreement, warn environmentalists.

Tasmanian Premier Will Hodgman met with the Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull today to replace the expired legislation.

Vica Bayley, the Tasmanian campaign manager of The Wilderness Society says the logging industry is facing major structural issues.

He says a continuation of the agreement puts the environment at risk, as it exempts the industry from federal environmental protections.
