Gloucester residents and activist group Groundswell Gloucester have been protesting peacefully against mining giant AGL since August. But as fracking starts in the Waukivory pilot site, the situation has turned ugly with clashes between coal seam gas protestors and AGL security guards. Activists say the police and NSW government should take further action to protect their right to protest. They are also concerned that chemicals used in the pilot program have not been tested before Office of Coal Seam gas gave approval earlier this week. AGL say they have followed procedures and have not used any banned substance.
