Land clearing in Queensland is wreaking havoc on native habitats. That’s according to the latest annual Statewide Landcover and Trees Study. It reveals that 375,000 hectares of bush were cleared in 2005-2006, killing two million mammals, about 9,000 koalas and millions of birds and reptiles. The Queensland World Wildlife Fund says land clearing is putting native species on the brink of extinction.
