A Wiradjuri traditional owner has managed to stop the world’s largest gold mining company from expanding its operations at Lake Cowal. Neville Chappy Williams has been fighting against the Barrick Gold mine in central western NSW for nearly 10 years. The NSW Land and Environment Court found in favour of Williams, with an injunction that stops the Minister for Planning even considering a modification request.
