Daylee Sambo Dorough from the Inuit Circumpolar Conference, says Inuit in Alaska already enjoy self-management, in terms of traditional tribal government. Laguna Pueblo and Navaho lawyer June Lorenzo describes her own involvement in the Pueblo system of self-management as a tribal court judge, within Indigenous communities in New Mexico. Australian representative on the UN Working Group, LES MALEZER, says the right for Indigenous people to manage their own affairs partly became reality for many Indigenous Australians, when Aboriginal Missions and Reserves were finally handed over to Aboriginal community councils.
