The Northern Territory Legislative Assembly has passed a motion calling on the Federal Government to exempt the region from the impending Carbon Tax. Opponents of the controversial tax argue the Territory’s fragile economy could be severely damaged if the tax were introduced. Country Liberal member, David Tollner proposed the motion which asks the Federal Government to offer a 50-year tax exemption to Australia’s youngest economic region.
